The Indian smartphone industry has majorly revolutionized over a period of last 5 years.

Many pleasant changes have taken place, and it has helped a potential smartphone user enjoy more benefits.

Without much ado, let’s list out a few elements that will let you the changes that the Indian mobile phone industry has seen over 5 years.

  • Chinese phones brands came, saw and conquered the Indian market

We would need to go back a bit 5 years to include this significant change that drove the Indian market. Chinese smartphone giants such as Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo and recently Realme made entries in India. They started launching phones after phones loaded with advanced features at lower prices. The change was so evident that it helped Xiaomi to dethrone Samsung from the top spot.

The assembling of more features at a lower price was seen as the key factors behind its dominance in India. Even other players like Oppo and Vivo started finding a niche in India. Recently, it is Realme that is now catching up with Indian users by giving them more specs at super lower prices. It completely changed the Indian mobile phone industry with cut-throat competition among brands.

It was good for a prospective customer as it was possible to compare many models at a price point and then buy one matching their needs and budget the best way. From a Vivo phone under 10000 like Vivo U10 to the presence of other branded models, it is now evident that the competition is huge in the budget category in India.

  • Feature phone made a comeback with the launch of Reliance JioPhone

Reliance tried creating turbulence in the Indian market with the launch of its affordable 4G feature phone JioPhone. It was targeted at those customers who were looking to buy a 4G phone with video calling and more at a throwaway price. The phone was a resounding success as it was priced at only Rs.1,500.

  • Apple started making iPhones in India

Apple finally understood the relevance of the Indian mobile phone market and started assembling its iPhones in 2017. It collaborated with Taiwanese brand Wistron, one of the equipment manufacturers of Apple to make iPhones out of its Bengaluru’s Peenya.

  • Nokia made a comeback

Yesteryear’s biggest success in India, Nokia made a comeback in India with its launching of Android phones in 2017. Ever since then, Nokia has been launching devices in India from time to time with little or no success. Why? Their models seem to be no match for phones being launched with stunning features and lower prices.

  • 1-1.5 GB data per day became the New Benchmark

The year 2017-18 saw data explosion in India, thanks to the launch of Reliance Jio. Internet data did not remain a luxurious commodity in India anymore. Nowadays, you can check that every telecom company in India is offering 1 GB to 2 GB per day plan to its customers.

It has helped users to enjoy streaming on rising platforms like Netflix and more. People are now connected 24/7 and have their best time on social media, by downloading movies and watching videos and more. The trend has also increased the individual daily data connection.

There were other changes also in the Indian market for mobile phones that simply stirred it for good. Now you can invest in phones under 10000 that can give you enough value in this price segment and get your hands on the best features available to enjoy stunning features. With 5G network and 5G-enabled phones all set to make their debut in 2020; the Indian market is being speculated to see more positive changes.
